So as most of my friends know I am a bit of a Phishhead. Phish is back!! I found I believe in late January that Phish was back and going on tour. I immediately started scrambling to see where they were playing. Alpine Valley! Sweet, i'm there! Well the plan did not quite out work out that easy. First there is a lottery for fans and I didn't get any, I was shut out. Then they went on sale on live nation, which is a crappy way to buy a ticket, btw. Nothing. Website could not handle all the sales, slow as hell, all kinds of phans were pissed off. Luckily a guy from the Phish message board I hang out on sold me a ticket. Stoked! Campground booked immediately after that. I was going to see Phish again. The last time I went I was living in SE Iowa and traveled alone to see Phish at Alpine Valley for their last shows ever. I was happy to be able to see them play again. Well I was talking to one of my newer friends that I have made since moving north and he likes music and knows Phish a little, but likes them. He said he wanted to go. I'm like "wow, wish I had known this sooner!" I knew it would be a hassle. Long story short, I found him a ticket on a ticket auction site, ordered one ticket, charged for two, got screwed on my credit card. No refunds, would have to get the tickets and sell one on Ebay or something. Which is what I did. Don't even ask me how much I was charged for two tickets, I'm still mad about it. Took a huge loss even with selling the other ticket. Well the plan was made for June 20th concert. Well what was supposed to be driving down for a concert turned into an entire vacation! We ended up making it into a 5 day trip. First day getting to campground after driving all day, we were there 10 minutes at campsite when it proceeded to rain for 12 hours, very heavy at times. We were never so glad to see the sunshine the next morning. Spent the day exploring Aztalan State Park, where I believe I may have done the damage to my knee that did not kick in until we were in the parking lot at Alpine Valley that night. I get out of my jeep and took a few steps and it started hurting. Within a few more steps, the pain was so bad I could have never made it in to the show alone. I was leary about taking someone with me to a Phish show, but at that moment was glad I did. Had I not had my buddy Mike with, I would probably not have seen Phish that night!. It was a great time, great setlist. I called Ghost and got it! Will try and find link to the show! So anyways, the next day we headed up to Door county WI, wow, what a beautiful trip along Lake Michigan on the way there. When we got there it was getting late but got to see what the lake looked like from our campground on the peninsula. Very beautiful place. We spent the next day exploring the entire peninsula and beaches and towers and flowers and woods and got some great pics. It was fun to hang out with someone that viewed nature as I did and constantly taking pics to get that "money shot". We headed back on the 5th day. It was going to be a long way home, but found another beautiful park to stop at after we left Door County. I want to go back there! Then we stopped in Green Bay and of course, him being a cheese head, we had to stop at Lambeau field. I had never been to an NFL stadium before. Which is strange, as much as I like football. We had lunch at Curlys with you guessed it - Beer and Cheese. When in Rome.....do as the cheeseheads would do. It was a fun trip. We ended it with a quick drive through his hometown where it just poured on us for like 5 minutes. Which in turn gave us sunny sky as we were leaving and a double rainbow. It was pretty cool. As we were driving back into town the skys opened up for such a beautiful sunset, I dropped him off at home, and went towards the sun! I got some awesome shots. Instead of taking the road to home, i took the opposite road towards the sun to see it go down. Then I was ready to go home after our huge adventure of 1400 miles in 5 day, 4 nights. Thanks for the memories Wisconsin
