I love to travel, I love my friends, but I realized I'm getting old! I was home recovering for 4 days after the week long cabin trip and I still did not feel too ready to go anywhere else. But I had plans with my friend Jules and her friend that were coming up to camp on Lake Superior. So I had alot of the same stuff handy and threw it in the jeep, went to the store, stocked up the cooler and drank lots of coffee. It all turned out good as we had a great time and I seemed to get some energy from some where. Must have been the Folgers. So we had separate vehicles with all of our camping gear. They followed me up the shore. After a liquor store stop and gas up, we headed to Palisade head for a break. We love this place although lots of people stop there. Even saw a big ship off in the distance this time. From there we headed up to a resort by Temperance River. It was strange passing by the usual stops like Gooseberry and Split Rock. We got in at a good time which provided enough daylight to setup camp. It got cold at night, down to 45 or so and it was good thing we dressed warm. Jules had a good fire going! She is a pyromaniac, let me tell ya! Was kind of nice to have someone else stokin the fire for once, as it seems its usually my job. I miss when the kids were little and they would do it. The next day we headed up the North shore with a stop in Grand Marais and then on to Grand Portage State Park. Beautiful waterfalls there and lots of nature photo opportunities, but waaaaay too many people for my taste. Went back to Grand Marais and hung out, hit the trading post and then to a cafe for supper. We took our time coming home with a long stop in Beaver Bay where Liz got herself a rock polisher and we had lunch. Then made a stop at Gooseberry Falls. Julie bought me a beautiful poster that was kind of her. Can't wait to find a frame for it to put it up in the house. Then I took them to Stoney point for sunset happy hour. It was a perfect weekend on the shore. Fun to make another new friend too. I can't wait to see their pictures! When you look at the waterfall - just remember Minnesota is on one side of the river and Canada on the other
My place on the web where I keep track of whats happening and keep my friends and complete strangers updated. Adventures, life stories, current events of whats happening.
