So I had this summer off from work. I thought I had a summer job, but plans changed and they only hired one person too coordinate the harvest fest and energy fair. So I found myself with 3 months to do whatever before I went back to school in the fall. . I will probably add more details in further posts if time allows. But I got hit with some bad news on my very last day of the school year and found out my 98 yr old Grandpa had died. He wanted to make it to his birthday and made it to 98 and 1 day. So I immediately headed home to pay my respects to my Grandpa. Now this is a guy that came from a completely different generation and deserves an entire post just to him, I'll do that later. But it was relaxing to stay at a friends cabin that had no electricity but a 12v battery for lights, a wood stove for cooking, no indoor plumbing, and outhouse and very peaceful surroundings. It was just what I needed and thought it was highly appropriate as my way to reflect on Grandpas life and pay my respects. It was hard to let go, but I knew he was with Grandma in Heaven. They were married for over 70 years.
By the following weekend, I went up to the same friends other cabin up north for a relaxing weekend. It was just what the doctor ordered after the previous weekend. I also found out that no one in their family had stayed at both cabins within one week but me. So that was pretty cool. These are some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life to give me this kind of opportunity. I am very greatful for this opportunity to experience this peaceful life they have shared with me through their cabins.
